Based on the Vedic philosophy of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah – Sarve Santu Niramayaha” M.G.M. Medical College, Jamshedpur came into existence on 14th Nov’ 1961, to fulfill the aspirations of Bihar and Jharkhand and is a reputed Medical College of erstwhile Bihar, where P.G. and U.G. Medical Education have been imparted since long.

True to its name it has grown to become the premier medical institution of Jharkhand and India imbibing the Gandhian philosophy of making access of quality health care to the needy people of Jharkhand and its neighboring States.

The College  has provided so many alumni, who have established the glory of the institute not only in India but abroad too.

GM Medical College was established in the year 1961, under the Chairmanship, who has earned national and international credentials for the promotion of Medico-Social services. I Medical College is one of the 3 medical colleges in JHARKHAND, only in KOLHAN TRIBAL BELT catering to the needs and fulfilling the aspirations of tribal population of the state, in terms of infrastructure, academic facilities and modern sophisticated medical equipment’s.

Medical College, affiliated Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand and recognized by Medical Council of India, which aims to produce the most competent and knowledgeable medical doctors and Para-medicals for meeting the growing demands of technical manpower of the country. The college’s mission is to perform scientific research and provide with quality health services to the sick and the needy.

MGM Medical College is situated 130 kms from state capital Ranchi The entire establishment of Medical College, viz, Pre-clinical and clinical departments, Teaching hospital, School of Nursing, Students hostels, Quarters for faculties and other staff, Library, etc., all are located within two campuses about acres of land. The National Medical College Campus is located at the outskirt of Jamshedpur city in a peaceful and pollution free environment. In the 21st century, with the progress  in medical science people  in general are living more years  and mortality from infectious diseases  have dramatically decreased but the rapid industrialization and proliferation of technology produced negative effect on our environment resulting  into  newer types of non- communicable and lifestyle disease,  posing  a great challenge to the medical fraternity.

The requirement of doctors for treating the sick and doing research to address these newer disease  is increasing all over the world  including our country.

MGM Medical College has been set up keeping in mind the above and to meet the increasing requirements  of medical doctors  in  the tribal state of Jharkhand, who need to be equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
