Microbiology

The department of microbiology at MAPIMS possesses a faculty & training programme that is one of the best in the field. State of art facility, including all equipments students lab, demonstration halls, bacteriology, virology, & immunology lab, research lab exist in the department.

The student’s lab as well as diagnostic lab is provided with digital microscope. For practical work each student will be allotted with binocular microscope. The department library is furnished with text books of several international & national authors. To add on to its pride, there is department museum with charts, model & various parasite specimens etc.

The routine diagnostic work will be done in the diagnostic lab which also caters to all the practical necessities of the students. Apart from routine curriculum, the student will have to take active part in seminars; problem based learning, short project work & quiz.

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (Formerly, Bhagalpur Medical College Bhagalpur) was founded in the year 1970 under the management of Dept. of Health, Medical education and F.W, Govt. of Bihar. The college is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna (Formerly to Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur university, Bhagalpur).

100 students are admitted annually before 31st July and classes are taken from 1st August. The process of admission is completed on or before 30th September every year.

When Andhra State was formed in October 1953, the Government of Andhra decided to start a medical college in the Rayalaseema region of the state. In Government Order Ms. No. 1835, Health, dated 29 November 1955, the government of Andhra passed orders to establish a medical college, the third one in the state at Kurnool. As the building was not ready for the college the government decided to admit 50 students intended for Kurnool Medical College at Kurnool City in July 1956.

This school heralded the beginning of Allopathic Medical Education by conferring LMP Diploma in old undivided Assam.

It was initiated by the laying of the foundation stone by the Honourable Health Minister of Assam Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Baghmari, Diphu on 19th January, 2011 in presence of the then MP Biren Singh Engti, State HAD Minister Khorsing Engti, Parliamentary Secretary Bidya Sing Engleng, MLA Mansing Rongpi. The name of Diphu Medical College during that time was Assam Hills Medical College and Research Institute (AHMC&RI).
