Guntur Medical College had a humble beginning in the 1940s. The then Government of Madras issued an order  on June 22, 1946 that Guntur Medical College would start functioning from July1, 1946 admitting 50 students. The help rendered by Mrs. Achanta Rukmini Lakshmipathi, the then Health Minister was immense and all those who receive their education in this great institution are really indebted to her. Dr. G.V.Satynarayana Murthy took charge as the Special Officer, GMC Scheme on september 17, 1946.

Welcome to Santhiram Medical College

Hands that serve are holier and service to society through education brings enrichment and enlighten the society. With a keen interest to promote medical education and provide quality medical services and with a motto of “EDUCATION FOR SERVICE”. Santhiram Medical College and General Hospital was established. College have excellent faculty comprising highly qualified Professors, Doctors and trained manpower to impart quality health care.

Rangaraya Medical College was started as a private medical college in 1958. It was the result of dedicated efforts by Dr M V Krishnarao, who was a Minister of Education in the cabinet of Sri Rajaji in the composite Madras state. He was later joined by Colonel Dr D S Raju, M R C P, who was a personal physician of Sri Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and later Deputy Minister of Defence and Health in the cabinet of Sri Jawaharlal Nehru.

Awards and Achievements Received by the students and faculty. Many students of Government medical college Anantapuramu Regularly attended different student conferences and presented Cases and posters and won the awards. One student by name Manasa had been selected for Republic day parade in Jan-26th 2012 as NSS volunteer . One student by name M. Niharika of 2014 batch had received state best NSS volunteer award on Sep-24th 2018. Government Medical college Anantapuramu has been sanctioned 2nd NSS unit because of its out standing services by 1st unit in 2016. programme officer of NSS.A.
