Guru Gobind Singh Medical College with more than 630 bedded Hospital is a Punjab Government institution established in 1973. The Govt. of Punjab, vide its Notification No.8/02/2005-1HB-III/6308 dated 31.10.2006 transferred this college to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot as its constituent Medical College. The College is recognized by Medical Council of India vide its Letter No.MCI34941(UG)2010-PUN/35407 dated 22.10.2010 for 50 MBBS admissions per year.

Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, the prestigious institution of the Steel City, was started on 23rd April 1986 by upgrading the existing District Government Hospital which was started on 1917 in a span of 150 acres land. In order to serve the sick and needy people of Salem and the adjacent districts. The foundation for the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College was laid at Salem by the late Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India on 25th october 1988.

History 

One hospital and one dispensary were started in 1845. Subsequently, such facilities were recommended for other parts of the state as well. However, due to lack of trained doctors the initiative with limited success, In 1855, a maternity hospital and one dispensary and a medical school were opened in Jaipur, inaugurated on 7th September, 1861 and in the first batch 24 students were admitted. Shri Guru Ram Rai Darbar Sahib in Dehradun is a philanthropic organization of the Udaseen sect . Sri Guru Ram Rai ji, the eldest son of the seventh Guru of the Sikhs- Sri Har Rai ji, had established it for protecting and spreading the traditions, ideals and philosophies of Hinduism Dehradun owes its name and history to the emergence of Sri Guru Ram Rai ji who came to this then small , green Arcadian abode way back in 1676. He established his ‘ DERA ‘ in Doon Valley which later became popular as ‘DEHRADUN’ During the reigns of Aurangzeb , the doon valley was Guru Maharajji’s property.

Beginning it's journey in the year of 1969 as ‘Burdwan University Medical College’ by the University of Burdwan, it was taken over by the Government of West Bengal on 4 August 1976, and renamed as Burdwan Medical College. In the year 2003 the College remained as the sole Medical College under the academic jurisdiction of Burdwan University until it was taken up by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences in 2003.

Located in Midnapore (West Bengal), Midnapore Medical College and Hospital was established in 2004. Earlier, the college was known as Midnapur Sadar Hospital, West Midnapur, but to provide medical study to the young generation, the Government of West Bengal changed its name. The college is approved by the Medical Council of India, Government of India, New Delhi. Midnapore Medical College and Hospital is affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Science and it imparts course in the field of medical science, at the undergraduate level.
