Baba Raghav Das, popularly known as 'Gandhi of Poorvanchal', was born in a rich Brahman family on 12 December 1896 at Pune, Maharastra. After that he went to Ghazipur, where he met 'Mauni baba' and learned Hindi. Later he met 'YogirajAnantMahaprabhu' and accepted him as his guru. In 1921, Mahatma Gandhi visited Gorakhpur.

T.D. Medical College is the 1st Medical college in the state which was started under Private Management . This Medical college is situated in the suburban area of Vandanam, 9 km south of the Alappuzha (previously Alleppey) town, facing the NH 47, in Alappuzha district of Kerala State, South India. The initials T.D. stand for Thirumala Devaswom, which in Sanskrit means belonging to the Lord of Thirumala, since this Medical College was started in 1963 under the patronage of the T.D. Temple at Anantha Narayana Puram of Alappuzha.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College (NSCB Medical College)is the second oldest medical college in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It was founded in 1955 as Government Medical College Jabalpur and was inaugurated by then Prime Minister, Honorable Late Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru. Later it got named after Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the most prominent leader of the Indian independence movement. Admission is through a National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test and the current class size is 150 students per year which is to be commisioned to 250 soon.
