Murshidabad Medical College is a government-run medical college located very near to Berhampore Court Railway Station on Station Road in Berhampore Town at Murshidabad district. The college was established in 2012. The Hospital serves the people of the districts Murshidabad, Birbhum and the northern part of Nadia by providing preventive, diagnostic and curative services to the community. The college has a capacity of 125 MBBS seats which is affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences and recognized by Medical Council of India. Students are admitted through NEET. The college is also affiliated by State Medical Faculty (SMFWB) for conducting para medical courses as per their syllabus. There are 70 para medical seats and these are filled with students screened by entrance examination conducted by SNFWB. Dean of the students affairs is incharge of the academic and other activities of the students of the institution.

There is a Nursing Training School with a capacity of traning 60 freshers for GNM course. Also there is a Lab for the nurses for the hospitals of over Murshidabad district to undergo refresher cum skill test.

The facilities of the institute are built on a huge campus of 32 acres where the complexes with independent location exist. These are Academic Building, Hospital Building, Hostels, Residences for Faculty and staff, Indoor and Outdoor play arena including 2 large football grounds, Gymnasiums,. Outdoor and indoor sports and games facilities, Diagnostic and Clinical services and pathological investigation laboratories.

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae; abbreviated in many ways, most commonly MBBS, but also MB ChB, BMBS, MB BCh, MB BChir), is the primary medical degree awarded by medical schools in countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom. The historical degree nomenclature states that they are two separate undergraduate degrees. In practice, however, they are usually combined as one and conferred together, and may also be awarded at graduate-level medical schools.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), is a professional degree in medical science. A person holding the MBBS degree becomes a certified medical practitioner. The duration of MBBS course is five years and six months including one year of rotational internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organised by non-profit organisations (NGOs). MBBS course syllabus includes studies on anatomy, pharmacology, pathology as well as community health & medicine, paediatrics, and surgery. The syllabus, prescribed in such a way that MBBS degree holders can choose a specialisation for further majoring and practising medicine. The career specialisations for MBBS students are Nephrology, Cardiology, Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Organ Transplant, Endocrine, and General Surgery, etc.
