Charutar Arogya Mandal (CAM), is an outcome of a dream cherished by the late Dr. HM Patel, a former Union Finance and Home Minister. He embarked on building an institution that he envisioned would fill the need long-felt, that for a faculty of Medicine, not many thought would succeed.
The lush green Maharishi Markandeshwar University spread over an area of 47 acres with exotic surroundings of green hills is ideally located on Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway at Sultanpur Road, Solan (H.P.) in the lap of the 'devbhoomi' of great Himalayan. Established as a Multi faculty University in the name of the Maharishi Markandeshwar Ji, a great disciple of Lord Shiva, the foundation stone of the University was laid by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal Ji on 22 February 2009.

A 720 bedded multi-specialty MediCiti Hospital functioning at Ghanpur since 1992 is attached to MIMS. MediCiti Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) was started during the year 2002-2003 with annual intake of 100 students. The college has started functioning from 17th October 2002 following admission of 1st batch of students of 100.
Brief History:
Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Medical College, Rajkot was started in June 1995. It now admits 150 (100 Recognised and 50 Permitted) students per year and is the fastest growing medical college of Gujarat with the target of providing sub speciality education in 15 branches of Medicine & Surgery. It is affiliated to Saurashtra University, Rajkot.
The Civil hospital complex at Rajkot actually has the following hospitals with a total inpatient capacity of 750 beds.
Geetanjali Medical College And Hospital, Udaipur was established as a part of the Geetanjali University, Udaipur. The college was initially started with an intake of 150 students. Later, other postgraduate, diploma and superspeciality programmes were also introduced. The college is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
