KMCT Medical College was established in the year 2008 with an intake of 100 MBBS seats approved by the Medical Council of India. The College is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences. The Central Government had accorded recognition for the MBBS course in the year 2013. Postgraduate courses were started in the academic year 2015-16 in Orthopaedics & Pharmacology and in the academic year 2020-21 postgraduate courses were started in other specialities (Microbiology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, Radiology & Pulmonary Medicine). From the academic year 2016-17, the intake of students in MBBS course was increased from 100 to 150 by the approval of Central Government.
The Medical College is attached to KMCT Medical College Hospital, which is a tertiary level multispecialty hospital with more than 720 beds. The hospital complex is well equipped & staffed with basic general units & supportive specialities. The hospital has well conducted Cardiology, Neurology & Nephrology departments. Our students have excelled in extracurricular activities and won trophies and medals in arts & sports conducted by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. They have also won top positions in quiz competitions conducted in various disciplines of medical science at intercollegiate levels. The college has an Alumni Association which meets every year, and also provide valuable suggestions for the improvement of the Institution.
The pass percentage of the students, who were admitted in the 2008 batch and have completed the course in 2013 is 100 which is the highest in Kerala. Thereafter, two other batches have completed the course with a pass percentage of 96.2 and 86.88, which is again the highest percentage of pass both under the Calicut University as well as under the 3rd respondent University. Students of this college have secured high positions in the All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination with Rank No.10 as well as in the Kerala Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination with Rank no.10 and 15. There are candidates who have secured Rank No.50, 91, 130 and so on in the postgraduate entrance examinations. Many of the students of this college are pursuing their higher studies in institutions with national importance. One of our students of 2009 batch was the second rank holder in the 1st MBBS University Examination under University of Calicut. In 2010 batch another student got the Gold medal for securing the top position in Anatomy of the Ist MBBS Examinations under KUHS. In 2013 batch one student got the 15th rank in the first MBBS Examination.
The Kunhitharuvai Memorial Charitable Trust Group of Institutions or KMCT was established in 1997 by Dr. K. Moidu a leading medical practitioner and a visionary educationist for imparting quality education in different professional fields. KMCT is located in the serene hillocks of Manassery and Mampatta around 25 Km from Calicut in Kerala. Away from the commotion of the city, the Campus is set in a lush green and tranquil environment – an ideal place to pursue education. The first institute to come up under KMCT was the National College of Pharmacy in 1997 and from this humble beginning, there are now more than 22 professional and non-professional institutions in our Manassery Campus in Calicut and Kuttipuram campus in Malappuram. Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae; abbreviated in many ways, most commonly MBBS, but also MB ChB, BMBS, MB BCh, MB BChir), is the primary medical degree awarded by medical schools in countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom. The historical degree nomenclature states that they are two separate undergraduate degrees. In practice, however, they are usually combined as one and conferred together, and may also be awarded at graduate-level medical schools.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), is a professional degree in medical science. A person holding the MBBS degree becomes a certified medical practitioner. The duration of MBBS course is five years and six months including one year of rotational internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organised by non-profit organisations (NGOs). MBBS course syllabus includes studies on anatomy, pharmacology, pathology as well as community health & medicine, paediatrics, and surgery. The syllabus, prescribed in such a way that MBBS degree holders can choose a specialisation for further majoring and practising medicine. The career specialisations for MBBS students are Nephrology, Cardiology, Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Organ Transplant, Endocrine, and General Surgery, etc.
MD - Anaesthesiology
The purpose of PG education is to create specialists who would provide high quality health care and advance the cause of science through research & training. A post graduate specialist having undergone the required training in anesthesiology should be able to recognize the health needs of the community. He or she should be competent to handle effectively medical problems and should be aware of the recent advances pertaining to his/her specialty. She/he should be highly competent anesthesiologist with broad range of skills that will enable him/her to practice anesthesiology independently. The PG student should also acquire the basic skills in teaching of medical/para-medical students. She/he is also expected to know the principles of research methodology and modes of consulting library. She/he should attend conferences, workshops and CMEs regularly to upgrade his/her knowledge. The purpose of this document is to provide teachers and learners illustrative guidelines to achieve defined outcomes through learning and assessment. This document was prepared by various subject-content specialists. The Reconciliation Board of the Academic Committee has attempted to render uniformity without compromise to purpose and content of the document. Compromise in purity of syntax has been made in order to preserve the purpose and content. This has necessitated retention of “domains of learning” under the heading “competencies”

M. D. in Psychiatry is a Clinical Speciality course.
Doctor of Medicine in Psychiatry explores the major psychiatric syndromes like psychotic, mood and anxiety disorders, psychological effects of physical diseases, the doctor-patient relationship, human development, patient interviewing, and ethical issues in medicine. It is a three-year postgraduation course and can be pursued by any MBBS holders from a University recognized by Medical council of India. Most psychiatrists practice general psychiatry. Sub-specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Geriatric psychiatry can be conducted after M. D. in Psychiatry.
