Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Paramedical Sciences (SVCPMS), a unit of Ramachandra Educational Trust was established in 2010 and started B.Sc (MLT) course with an intake of 12 students and currently the seats have been increased to 30 students per annum with the effect from the academic year 2017-18. SVCPMS is a sister concern of the ‘State of Art’, Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, 830 bedded Tertiary Care Hospital in Ariyur, Puducherry. SVCPMS is now expanding its aura in the field of paramedical sciences.

History

The Union Territory of Puducherry comprises of the erstwhile French colonies viz. Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. The Puducherry and Karaikal regions are surrounded by the State of Tamilnadu, whereas Mahe is surrounded by the State of Kerala and Yanam by the state of Andra Pradesh.

 Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) can trace its origins to the ‘Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry’ established by the French Government in 1823. In 1956 foundation for new medical college was laid and in 1964, hospital was inaugurated. JIPMER became an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 2008. It is an institution established for teaching, research and patient care in the area of health. JIPMER spreads over 192 acres.
