This institution was established in the year 1996 by our Founder Chairman,(Late) Dr.A.Shanmugasundaram, a noble Philanthropist and Educationist of extraordinary vision in the field of education who is the founder of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation - Deemed to be University.
In 2003, Vinayaka Mission's Medical College and Hospital received permanent recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI), Ministry of Health, Government of India. It was also renewed in the year 2010.
Sri Manakula Vinayagar Group of Institutions offer courses in Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, Polytechnic and Education offering 52 courses. Our campus spread across 225 acres of land with built up area of more than 25 Lakhs square feet to grown it. We have more than 12500 students, 2500 employees, 150 buses, hostel accommodation for 2000 students and more than 200 staff quarters.
Guru Gobind Singh Medical College with more than 630 bedded Hospital is a Punjab Government institution established in 1973. The Govt. of Punjab, vide its Notification No.8/02/2005-1HB-III/6308 dated 31.10.2006 transferred this college to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot as its constituent Medical College. The College is recognized by Medical Council of India vide its Letter No.MCI34941(UG)2010-PUN/35407 dated 22.10.2010 for 50 MBBS admissions per year.
Government Medical College, Patiala was started on 29th September, 1953 at Patiala, the capital of erstwhile Pepsu State, at that time a separate State from Punjab, under the Government Of India President’s rule . This was the first Medical College in Pepsu State with a population of over 20 lacs. The Rajendra Hospital, Patiala, was under construction when the college started. The foundation stone of the college building was laid by Dr. Rajendra Parshad then President of India on21.12.1953.
