GMERS Medical college, Vadnagar is an academic institution of repute under the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society Formed by the Dept. of Health of Family Welfare Govt. of Gujarat. It is located in the city of Vadnagar, Dist. Mehsana, Gujarat. The GMERS Medical college, Vadnagar stands Testimony to the high Professional standards aimed for and achieved by Gujarat medical education and Research Society. The Foundation stone of Medical college, Vadnagar was laid down in Year 2010.
Gujarat cancer society was founded in 1961 and since then it has been providing care to the patient suffering from cancer at M.P.Shah Cancer Hospital, Civil Hospital Compound, Ahmedabad and Community Oncology Centre (COC), Vasna. Till date, lacs of patients have been diagnosed and treated.
In appreciation of the work undertaken by GCS, the Government of Gujarat has given us the responsibility to develop a new medical college. The Government of Gujarat has given 25 acres of land at the New Swadeshi Mill Compound, Naroda Road, Asarwa, Ahmedabad.
The first batch of 150 MBBS students was admitted in GMERS medical college, Gandhinagar during August 2012. Total duration of MBBS course is 4 & ½ year and Compulsory rotational Internship of 1 year. 1st MBBS is of 1 year duration during which students learn subjects like Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, and Community Medicine. 2nd MBBS is of 1 & ½ year duration with subjects like Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Pharmacology, and Community Medicine.

Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Medical College, Rajkot was started in June 1995. It now admits 150 (100 Recognised and 50 Permitted) students per year and is the fastest growing medical college of Gujarat with the target of providing sub speciality education in 15 branches of Medicine & Surgery. It is affiliated to Saurashtra University, Rajkot.
