INTRODUCTION
Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute at Chennai has been acclaimed as one of the best places for a student to pursue his/her dream career in the field of Medicine. This medical college is under the ambit of the  Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) Puducherry, managed by Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth Trust.

Way back in 1707, the first hospital in Calcutta was built in the premises of the Old Fort at Gerstein Place. The Council of Fort William constructed this hospital. This hospital, initially built for the Europeans, was then known as Presidency Hospital. The hospital was accommodated in a single storied building. Later, in 1768, two houses were purchased in Lower Circular Road for converting them into a full fledged hospital. Located near the Presidency Jail, the hospital came to be known as Presidency General Hospital. Doors were opened to the non-European patients from 2nd April 1770.

The Shadan Educational Society is to provide best health care facilities to the people of local and neighbouring regions. Hence it strived to established a medical college. A well equipped teaching hospital is also necessary for the benefit of the students. Keeping in view of these objectives, the society had taken up and  constructed a hospital with all specialties which would provide teaching facility for both under Graduate and Post Graduate students.

DY Patil Deemed to be University has been making groundbreaking changes in the arena of education, healthcare, and sports. The moral vision of the university has always been to provide quality education in all spheres of higher learning and healthcare services in India. It has now been 17 diligent years of witnessing out of the box creativity, exceptional growth, and rewarding success of students and faculties. Each year the university, evolves into a stronger source of inspiration for all its students, to dream the bigger picture and turn it into reality.

Management

History :

This institution was established in the year 1996 by our Founder Chairman,(Late) Dr.A.Shanmugasundaram, a noble Philanthropist and Educationist of extraordinary vision in the field of education who is the founder of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation - Deemed to be University.

In 2003, Vinayaka Mission's Medical College and Hospital received permanent recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI), Ministry of Health, Government of India. It was also renewed in the year 2010.

Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) was conferred the status of Deemed to be University u/s 3 of the UGC Act 1956 in the year 2008 and since then, it has been contributing significantly to the society as an Institute for higher learning and research in the field of Medicine, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing.

This centre, a branch of the Ramakrishna Order, follows the ideal and principles of Sri Ramakrishna - "Service to Jiva is Service to Shiva" (One who serves man serves God indeed). Since its humble beginning in 1932 as a maternity hospital, this centre has grown into a 626 beded with multi-discipline, is situated in Kolkata, capital of West Bengal. This centre is providing health care at an affordable price to socio-economically weaker, under-priviledged and needy patients.
