DY Patil Deemed to be University has been making groundbreaking changes in the arena of education, healthcare, and sports. Founded in 1926, the Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College (GSMC) and the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital are amongst the foremost teaching and medical care providing institutions in India. The medical college (school) provides training to about 2000 students in undergraduate, postgraduate and superspeciality medical courses; in undergraduate and postgraduate physical and occupational therapy; Masters and PhD courses in various allied specialties. A nursing school is also maintained by these institutions.
Hon. Dr. Padmasinhaji Patil, a man with golden dreams & enthusiasm of converting dreams into reality, is the Founder President of the “Terna Public Charitable Trust”. He is associated with a large number of Educational, Social and Medical activities in Maharashtra. Dr. Patil, a renowned personality, has devoted his life to the cause of Education and social activities.
Established in 1921, T.N. Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital had recently celebrated its centenary year. The occasion was blessed by the presence of Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Uddhavji Thackray. Being a first medical college and Hospital in India, run by Indians for Indians, it has set various landmarks in its glorious journey of 100 years.
I take over as Dr K.A. Dinshaw superannuates after an illustrious career of 13 years. The years have been well utilized to evolve the process necessary to run for the quest of cancer (QC) and we now address ourselves to that purpose. The quest for cancer will have implications on affordability, innovation on one hand and delivery dissemination of standard of care, development of infrastructure and human resource on the other.
