As Government Medical College, Miraj, , previously known as Miraj Medical College successfully completes 52 years, it may be difficult for visualize the early days when this medical college was almost literally started on a shoestring ! 

         Since the times as a provincial state in the pre-independent era, Miraj boasted of good quality medical care. Dr.GopalraoGovindraoWatwe was the first Indian doctor in Miraj . With his help, In 1864 his Highness ShrimantPatwardhan started first Government Hospital in Miraj

Armed Forces Medical College, Pune is a premier medical institution in India. AFMC has the distinction of being the first medical college set up by the Armed Forces of any country in Asia. The college is a unique institution which combines medical education with training specific to the health care needs of the Armed Forces. AFMC has been consistently rated among the top three medical colleges in India by surveys published by reputed newsmagazines for the past decade.

Founded in 1926, the Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College (GSMC) and the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital are amongst the foremost teaching and medical care providing institutions in India. The medical college (school) provides training to about 2000 students in undergraduate, postgraduate and superspeciality medical courses; in undergraduate and postgraduate physical and occupational therapy; Masters and PhD courses in various allied specialties. Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College & General Hospital is located at Ambegaon, Narhe, Pune. It is founded by President Prof. M. N. Navale and named after the mother of Prof. M. N. Navale. In a very little course of time, this institution has achieved its reputation for academic performance & patient services, not only in Pune but all over Maharashtra.
