ABOUT COLLEGE
- Mahadevappa Rampure (MR) Medical College - The Government of Karnataka had decided to establish a Medical College at Bellary instead of Gulbarga.
- Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society under the leadership of Sri Mahadevappa Rampure started a Medical College in Private sector in 1963. Sri S. Nijalingappa, the then Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, Sri. Veerendra Patil and Dr. D. C. Pavate helped in establishing the Medical college.
- Medical College was started in 1963 with mission to bring out quality doctors by imparting quality education to meet the present and changing expectation of the people and improving the health status of the people of this region by offering health care and providing optimum training facilities for Medical students.
- In 1973, Sri. Mahadevappa Rampure, the architect & founder of the Medical College left to heavenly abode and to salute his vision, dynamism and hard work in establishing this College, it was named after him as "Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College".
Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society is the prestigious educational institute of Karnataka was established in 1958 by Late Shri. Mahadevappa Rampure to cater to the needs of higher education, especially the medical, engineering pharmacy, law, education, commerce, arts, science and other technical skilled fields. The society in the process of imparting higher education in the backward region of the state has made its impact on the socio-cultural, politico-economic advancement of the region. The Hyderabad-Karnataka area is comprised of Gulbarga, Bidar and Raichur districts. Multifaceted development programmes are implemented from time to time. Inspired by democratic values, the Society is ably managed by a Board constituting the President, Secretary and 13 other elected members. Each member of the Council is a responsible and knowledgeable person with an immaculate track record.
The Society runs 39 educational institutions in various disciplines - Health Sciences, Teaching Hospitals, Technical Institutions, Degree Colleges, Pre-University Colleges, High Schools, Primary Schools, Hostels.
The Society is established in the year 1958 with a motto to “Empower Education” and aims to deliver the quality education to the people of Hyderabad Karnataka Region, being the only Educational Society in this region with 49 educational institutions that spread over the State.
Hyderabad Karnataka Region in the early fifty’s was considered as the backward region with major group of agriculturists and with lower percentage of literacy. The then, Divisional Commissioner Sri. G. M. Nagarajrao taken initiation to introduce the educational society with an intention to cater education to the people of this region and on this regard he imposed additional cess on the farmer’s food grains, the additional cess amount collected from the farmers is handed over to the core committee members of HKE society to introduce technical college to this region.
The Society which started with single educational institute is now spread its branches all over the state with total of 49 institutions functioning under this. The Society is striving hard to uplift the educational aspirants and cater the education in diverse fields with prominence for Medical and Engineering Sciences.
My Self and my team share a common passion to enlighten the community with the knowledge of light and initiate cutting edge endeavours.
Present era witnesses the good human resource to fulfil the societal and technical needs, hence our society has taken all the measures to meet the current requirements and accordingly brisk up to beat the challenges.
Change is not only dramatic but also the nature fact. In tune with these changes our society has been transforming itself to adopt and provide the best learning experience to prepare young promising and prominent minds to solve the complex real life problems.
It is with pride I wish to state that in the last six decades society has grown at large capacities. The institutions have flourished by offering the best of their education and provide every student a rich vibrant experience, a high quality, value-based and outcome based education. Immense opportunities exist in our institutions to experiment and innovate both within and outside the boundaries of the college and the curriculum with ethical and transparent in every sphere of education proving the maxim that “Success has no boundaries”.
Sky is the only limit. However, we believe in keeping our roots firmly in the ground, no matter how far we fly thereby keeping ourselves humble. Our aim is to continuously strive to develop our community by joining hands together.

Our Society offers ambitious programmes in Medicine, Dental, Pharmacy, Hhomeopathy, Engineering, Law, Science, Liberal arts, Commerce and Management etc. The institutes exhibits its progress by holding state of art infrastructures, lab facilities, research, curriculum designing and building exchange programs with other Universities.
HKES claims to be rich in commitment, to harness knowledge through hard work and integrity. This venture will pave way for more committed individuals. The most important asset of any institution is its committed faculty and research activities. We have ever been fortunate to have good teachers and researchers who continue to equip and empower themselves to deliver their knowledge and experience to the best of their ability.

Brief History
It was Swami Vivekananda in his letter to the Maharaja of Mysore had conveyed aptly about great visionaries - “They alone live, who live for others,...” This philosophy is very much nearer to the founding fathers of HKE Society. A Team with character and conviction does not need stimulation and motivation’, Mahadevappa Rampure, with his team has transformed this area in to a progressive society, using education as an instrument of change. The single handed credential of Mahadevappa Rampure as captain has the collective endeavor of all his team-mates. Each one has contributed proactively their respective wisdom, extended helping hands in times of scarcity, crisis, stability and progressive time.
The individual ENERGY of Mahadevappa Rampure coupled with energies of his well wishers, leaders, statesmen, philanthropists, administrators, academicians, and visionaries contributed in the form of SYNERGY as a profound foundation for this premier education society.
It is often said that ‘One who eats fruits, should remember the person who has planted and others who have nurtured’.
It is with this backdrop, we remember the services of the entire team and express our gratitude to those noble persons who strived for a noble cause and not just applause.
Hence we salute with respect and remember with gratitude Sri Mahadevappa Rampure, his associates, successive presidents and their teams for contributing in a very big way for steady growth of our society. Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae; abbreviated in many ways, most commonly MBBS, but also MB ChB, BMBS, MB BCh, MB BChir), is the primary medical degree awarded by medical schools in countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom. The historical degree nomenclature states that they are two separate undergraduate degrees. In practice, however, they are usually combined as one and conferred together, and may also be awarded at graduate-level medical schools.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), is a professional degree in medical science. A person holding the MBBS degree becomes a certified medical practitioner. The duration of MBBS course is five years and six months including one year of rotational internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organised by non-profit organisations (NGOs). MBBS course syllabus includes studies on anatomy, pharmacology, pathology as well as community health & medicine, paediatrics, and surgery. The syllabus, prescribed in such a way that MBBS degree holders can choose a specialisation for further majoring and practising medicine. The career specialisations for MBBS students are Nephrology, Cardiology, Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Organ Transplant, Endocrine, and General Surgery, etc.
MD - Anaesthesiology
The purpose of PG education is to create specialists who would provide high quality health care and advance the cause of science through research & training. A post graduate specialist having undergone the required training in anesthesiology should be able to recognize the health needs of the community. He or she should be competent to handle effectively medical problems and should be aware of the recent advances pertaining to his/her specialty. She/he should be highly competent anesthesiologist with broad range of skills that will enable him/her to practice anesthesiology independently. The PG student should also acquire the basic skills in teaching of medical/para-medical students. She/he is also expected to know the principles of research methodology and modes of consulting library. She/he should attend conferences, workshops and CMEs regularly to upgrade his/her knowledge. The purpose of this document is to provide teachers and learners illustrative guidelines to achieve defined outcomes through learning and assessment. This document was prepared by various subject-content specialists. The Reconciliation Board of the Academic Committee has attempted to render uniformity without compromise to purpose and content of the document. Compromise in purity of syntax has been made in order to preserve the purpose and content. This has necessitated retention of “domains of learning” under the heading “competencies”
MD - Psychiatry
M. D. in Psychiatry is a Clinical Speciality course.
Doctor of Medicine in Psychiatry explores the major psychiatric syndromes like psychotic, mood and anxiety disorders, psychological effects of physical diseases, the doctor-patient relationship, human development, patient interviewing, and ethical issues in medicine. It is a three-year postgraduation course and can be pursued by any MBBS holders from a University recognized by Medical council of India. Most psychiatrists practice general psychiatry. Sub-specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Geriatric psychiatry can be conducted after M. D. in Psychiatry.
